We live in times of anxiety, “critical times hard to deal with.” Many are reeling from financial crises, family breakdown, war, deadly disease outbreaks, and natural or man-made disasters. Add to this a variety of personal worries: ‘Will the growth I discovered on my body turn out to be cancer?’ ‘What kind of world will my grandchildren grow up in?’ What can we do to maintain our peace in the middle of all this chaos? How do you maintain peace of mind? This article will give you practical tips on maintaining some peace during turbulent times and renew your mind.
The answer involves applying practical wisdom, nurturing real faith in God, and building a reliable hope for the future.
Here are some Easy Practical Steps I did that may prove helpful for you:
One thing I had to do for sure was to back away from news media reports, social media, and anything that brings negativity. I want to be informed, but I don’t need to sink into depression and anxiety over it. and right now it seems like the media is permeated with this kind of information. Many things are beyond our control. So dwelling over it will not change anything.
Since I am home more than usual these days, Another practical tip on maintaining some peace during this time is that I have really spent more time and energy into gardening. It’s so therapeutic! I can shift the focus off negativity and more on creativity and positivity. I can just distress, talk to God, and keep physically fit; which is really good for not only your mind but your body as well. You may want to start a new hobby or project. You have to shift your focus. Managing stress and anxiety is a lot easier if one is well-rested. Make sure to get plenty of sleep. when Your mind is sharp and alert, you can better focus on the more important things.
Take care of your health.
Eat well and get plenty of exercises. Exercise your mind, body, and soul. The eating and sitting all day in front of a tV or electronic device won’t cut it. Got to get up and move! Get that heart pumping so all those beautiful nerves can get some oxygen. But make sure what you eat is just as important. Eating vegetables and proteins can do much for the soul.
One thing I found very important Avoid, or at least reduce your consumption of nicotine and any drinks containing caffeine and alcohol. Especially if you need to rest at night. Caffeine is a stimulant. Caffeine can affect your mind and heart at times in the wrong way. It can keep your body from resting properly. Ever had wild crazy dreams? What did you consume an hour or two before going to bed? Hummm…makes you think. Huh?

The articles helped me gain strength and courage by meditating on the examples of others rather than focusing on our own difficulties. They were particularly helpful to me and my family as we are still recovering from Hurricane Florence from 2 years ago! We are still living in an RV and trying to keep our sanity as we go from day to day living out of suitcases. 6 people! Thank goodness for back porch swings and fire pits…lol just go outside and listen to the birds.
Create a relaxing environment
In addition to reading, spending time with family I love to create A mood for myself to help my mind to relax and focus. I will grab a cup of tea, a good book, and light a soft relaxing candle such as lavender and chamomile or if I’m needing a little pick me up I will light a fresh energizing citrus fragrance candle.
